Bhuddism Discussion:
(Sunday July 2, 2006)

Today, I first talked about Pala 5, but I cannot remember correctly one thing. Pala 5 are
  1. Faith
  2. Perseverance (great effort)
  3. Sati (self-conciousness)
  4. Samadhi (great concentration)
  5. Prajna (wisdom)
The one that I made a mistake is faith (I thought that it is precept, but it's actually faith).

Later, we had a lot of discussion, and Shining mentioned about Nidanas (twelve links). So, I studied about it from 84000.org (it has searchable Dharma book), and wikipedia.org. The Sutra about Nidanas is described in มหาวรรค ทิฐิกถา (long statement: attitude discussion), which can be found at http://84000.org/tipitaka/pitaka_item/v.php?B=31&A=3332&Z=4069&pagebreak=0. It is worth noting that this attitude discussion can also be read from พระไตรปิฎก เล่มที่ ๓๑ พระสุตตันตปิฎก เล่มที่ ๒๓ (Tripitaka vol 31: Sutra Pitaka, vol 23), ขุททกนิกาย ปฏิสัมภิทามรรค (sorry, I don't know how to translate this).

One thing that can capture my interest is
Taṇhā (Pāli). Since it is stated in wikipedia that "Desire is sometimes described as the cause of suffering : a constant dissatisfaction, frustration". This is true. One of the reasons that makes us suffer is that desire forces us to respond to them (as long as we are not Arahat). Then, it creates some stress to our mind, especially when we cannot satisfy our needs.

However, the relationship of causes and conditions is very difficult for me to understand. I have no idea how Jara and Morana can lead to ignorance.
